Graduated from Mizzou with B.S.’64 & M.A.’65. Band director in Omaha from 1965 to 1981, where I also served as oboist with the Omaha Symphony. My final 7 yrs. in Omaha were spent as Director of Bands at Omaha Benson. Recently selected for induction into Benson High School's Hall of Fame.
Named Director of Bands in 1981 for the opening of Olathe South HS. In 1982, elected President of the East Kansas Band Directors’ Assoc. & in 1983, became Olathe’s Coordinator of Music.. During my 22 yrs. at Olathe South, our bands received over 250 1st Place Awards or Division “1” ratings, performing at the KC Royals' 7th game of the 1985 World Series, & Royals' Opening Day Ceremones. Marched at KC Chiefs' Halftime & marched in 7 nationally televised Bowl Game parades. In 1993, I was fortunate enough to be named by “Bands of America” as “Band Director of the Year”.
Retired in 2003 after 38 yrs. of teaching, but remain active as both clinician & adjudicator. Currently serving as Past-Chair of Leadership Olathe's Alumni Assoc., President of Olathe Public Schools’ Retired Employees Association, and as a Commissioner on Olathe's Housing Board.
